In Joshua 1 we are told to meditate on the Word of God. To really understand what that means you just have to look at a cow. Unlike a human that has just one chamber in their stomach, a cow has multiple chambers. A cow chews on the grass, swallows it into one of the chambers of its stomach, then, a little bit later on in the day, you know what that cow does? He vomits it back up into his mouth, chews on it some more and swallows it into another chamber of its stomach. Then you know what he does a little bit later on in the day? He vomits it up again, chews on it some more, then swallows it into another chamber to get all the nutrients out of it. Do you know what that is? Well, number one, it's gross. But number two, it's a perfect example of what it means to meditate on the Word of God. I don't just read it. Later in the day I bring it up into my mind and I think about it. Then a little bit later in the day I bring it back up into my mind and I think about it some more. Those who are committed to the Word of God constantly think about it.
