Israel 2027

After breakfast, we begin a full day journey through the Jordanian desert along the ancient Way of the Kings.

We visit Petra, the “rose-red city, half as old as time.” This ancient Edomite and Nabatean capital is a remarkable site. From the entrance we travel approximately one mile on foot (free) or by horseback (extra
cost) through the famed gorge called the Siq to the amazing treasury.

We will also see the ancient streets and
temples and the rocked-carved dwellings and tombs. Here you will have the opportunity to take a camel ride if
you wish (extra cost)

We return for dinner and overnight to the Dead Sea

We begin the day with a visit to Madaba, home to the Byzantine mosaic map of Jerusalem from which we find
the accuracy of the location of the biblical sites we will visit.

We continue to Mt Nebo where God allowed Moses to see the Promised Land before his death. The first view you have of Israel will be from where God gave this view to Moses
We will then cross the border into Israel and proceed north to Galilee stopping at Beit She’an which is a major archaeological site and location associated with King Saul (see 1 Samuel 31:10).

We will then spend overnight at our hotel in Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee

We will depart Galilee and head south toward Jerusalem visiting the following sites along the way:

* Nazareth (hometown of Mary, Joseph and Jesus – see Luke 1-2; Matthew 2)

* Mt Precipice (where they took Jesus to try to throw him off a cliff – Luke 4:29)

* Mt Carmel (where Elijah called down fire from heaven – see 1 Kings 18)

* Megiddo (where we will look out over the Valley of Armageddon – See Revelation 14)

* Caesarea Maritima (where Paul stood trial in Acts 25 and launched his missionary journeys)

You will then get your first view of the old city of Jerusalem as we have dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

In the morning we will visit the Southern Steps that led up to the temple (where Peter would have preached on the Day of Pentecost – see Acts 2) as well as the City of David which includes an optional walk through Hezekiah’s Tunnel to the Pool of Siloam (see 2 Kings 20:20 and John 9).

We will then travel to the Valley of Elah where David fought Goliath (see 1 Samuel 17). There you will have opportunity to pick up a stone from the likely brook where David gathered his five stones.

You will then have a free afternoon in the Old City of Jerusalem before dinner and overnight in Jerusalem

On this day we will travel to the Judean Desert and Dead Sea region to visit the following sites:
* Masada (ascent by cable car)

* Ein Gedi (where David hid from Saul – see 1 Samuel 24)

* Qumran (where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered)

* Jericho (the oldest city on earth – see Joshua 2; Joshua 4; Mark 10:46-53)

* The Mount of Temptation (see Matthew 4)

If available we will also stop at Wadi Qelt (referred to as The Valley of the Shadow of Death – Psalm 23)

We will then return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight

We will enter the old city through the Dung Gate to the Western Wall (also known as the Wailing Wall which is the closest place the Jewish people can get to where the Holy of Holies in the Temple once stood).

We will also walk through the Western Wall Tunnels and visit the Pool of Bethesda (see John 5).

We will then continue to the Israel Museum which includes a model of Jerusalem. We will also visit the Shrine of the Book where you will be able to view the Dead Sea Scrolls.

We will again have dinner and overnight in Jerusalem

Our last day will be spent following the passion of Christ including:

* Mt Zion (the upper room)

* Garden of Gethsemane (where Jesus prayed in agony)

* House of Caiaphas (where Jesus was tried and imprisoned by the Jews)

* Via Dolorosa (the path Jesus carried His cross to Golgotha)

* Ecce Homo Arch (where Jesus would stand trial before Pilate)

* Church of the Holy Sepulcher (built over the place of Jesus’ crucifixion

We will then conclude this trip of a lifetime by celebrating communion together at The Garden Tomb

We will once again have dinner and overnight in Jerusalem
