As worship leaders, our primary responsibility is to lead others in worshiping God. However, it's easy to get caught up in the details of planning and leading worship services and lose sight of the heart of worship. The heart of worship is not the music, the lights, or the sound - it's the connection we have with God.
Psalm 95:6-7 reminds us that true worship is about bowing down and kneeling before the Lord, acknowledging that He is our God and we are the people of His pasture. It's about recognizing that He is the Creator, and we are the created. It's about submitting ourselves to Him and recognizing that He is in control.
As worship leaders, we must constantly remind ourselves of the heart of worship and make sure that our focus is on God and not on the things of this world. We must guard our hearts and minds from becoming too focused on the technical aspects of worship and making sure that our hearts are in the right place.
One way to do this is by starting each day in worship. Take time to read scripture, pray, and sing praises to God before you start your day. This will help to set your heart and mind in the right place and remind you of the heart of worship. Another way to keep the heart of worship at the forefront is by regularly seeking the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit. As you plan and lead worship services, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in selecting songs, scriptures, and prayers that will help to connect your congregation with God.
As worship leaders, we have the privilege and responsibility of leading others in worshiping God. Let us always keep the heart of worship at the forefront and make sure that our focus is on God and not on the things of this world.
