Surrendering to the Will of God: The Importance of Surrendering in Worship

Scripture

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Isaiah 6:8

Devotional

As worship leaders, one of the most important aspects of leading others in worship is our own willingness to surrender to God's will. In Isaiah 6:8, Isaiah hears the call of the Lord and responds with a willingness to be used by God. This is the kind of surrender that is necessary for true worship to take place. Surrendering to God means acknowledging that He is in control and that we are not. It means being willing to lay aside our own agenda and desires, and instead, allowing God to lead us in worship.

It means being open to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and being willing to change our plans if necessary. One way to practice surrender in worship is by taking time to listen for the voice of the Lord. This can be done through daily prayer and scripture reading, as well as through quiet times of meditation and reflection. As we listen for the voice of the Lord, we must be willing to obey and follow His leading, even if it takes us out of our comfort zone. Another way to practice surrender in worship is by being open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. As we lead worship, we must be willing to step out in faith and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us.

This may mean being willing to change our plans or try something new. It also means being open to the gifts and talents of our team members, and allowing them to use them to glorify God. As worship leaders, let us constantly strive to surrender to the will of God. Let us be willing to listen for His voice and obey His leading. Let us be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and allow Him to guide us in our worship. And let us remember that true worship is about surrendering to God, not about promoting ourselves.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help us to surrender to your will in worship. Remind us to listen for your voice and obey your leading. Help us to be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and allow Him to guide us in our worship. Help us to lay aside our own agenda and desires, and instead, focus on glorifying you. Give us the courage to step out in faith and try new things, even when it takes us out of our comfort zone. We trust in your sovereignty and power, and we surrender ourselves to you. In Jesus' name, Amen.
